Muse: Abbey Lee

Abbey Lee, she is the rising star in current fashion industry from every magazines to high end catwalks.

She is like my number one favourite model !
She has versatility that differentiate from any other fashion models.
I think she is not classically beautiful but has a very modern and edge face and image.
For me, she stands out the most from th crowd.
She will be my muse for the collection as she is always inspiring.

The art of trench coat

Trench coat just becomes an instant fashion statement.

It can transform into fun, funky and quirky looks.

I was really inspired by the first image. I really like the whole warm yet cool colour palette
and the way she is wearing it.

Burberry Campaign

"This campaign celebrates our heritage and our timeless Burberry icons. The energy of the images and the dynamic cast reflect the different attitudes and expressions of the Burberry guy and girl. We’ve worked again with Emma Watson who has a classic, effortless beauty and is incredibly talented. Alongside Emma we have four British guys; Emma’s younger brother Alex Watson, Matt Gilmour, Max Hurd and George Craig. We always talk about how much fun we have making these images and I wanted to capture some of the excitement that you feel on set when all these different creative attitudes and personalities come together. Mario has shot these as both stills and video so we can share some of that energy with a wider audience”.

Colour images highlight the brand’s rich heritage and signature icons and are all anchored in outerwear, including modern variations of the Burberry trench coat, and innovations of the Burberry check. Images express the brand’s three collections – Burberry Prorsum, Burberry London, and Burberry Brit. The full campaign breaks in key online and print publications worldwide in January 2010. Burberry recently announced that it will be returning to London Fashion Week to show its Autumn Winter 2010 womenswear show in February, moving its show from Milan. Burberry, which was founded in 1856, is a member of the FTSE100 and is headquartered in London.

the art of trench coat

These are the photographs from Burberry's website 'art of the trench'(www.artofthetrench.com), celebrates the "iconic" Burberry trench coat through a vast collection of photos that show their trench prominently on individuals in the real world settings- the street, of course. They look very classic and modern. It's all about mix and match.

The Art of the Trench is a living document of the people around the world who wear the trench coat and is a collaboration between Burberry and some of the world’s greatest photographers, as well as participation from the world’s creative community.

Creative Director Christopher Bailey commissioned a collection of photographs of trench coats wearers taken by photographer Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist. For this first collaboration, Scott has been capturing street portraits of people in Burberry trench coats in London, Milan, New York, Paris, Berlin, Sao Paulo and Venice over the last few months.

I love when fashion breaks the rules. Trench coat is not another boring traditional item.

It is interesting when we see how modern people adopt classic items to express their authentic identity. Everyone builds their own narrative to their trench coat, adding personal taste in terms of their styling.

My personal favourite photos from the art of trench coat.

Looking very cool, relaxed and yet rock chic.

I think the dog is the hot item in this look.
the colour of dog matches the trench perfectly.

dandy+hip hop+classic+tatoo=totally refreshing style!!

Even kids look chic in trench coat! so cute.

The silhouette

Depicting dramatic silhouettes and shapes..
I came across this shoot, by Richard Burbridge, in Italy's Vogue Nov 2007 issue and thought I share it with you It's an original, artistic and fashionable piece.
Since my coat is based on alteration of trench coat, I thought I should be inspired by these images to create massive and creative silhouettes using the basic pattern of trench coat. The editorial is full of energy!

I was deeply inspired by the faded colour palettes from beige to olive green.
I just love those romantic mood that brings out 'nostalgia'

I always been intrigued by antique interiors.
There is a sense of history, warmth and narrative.

'Britishness'

The British capital is perceived as somewhere that focuses on innovation and brave new ideas. As John Galliano observes, 'London is the essence of fashion. It is the most cosmopolitan city in the world. Hunger, curiosity and its electric, electrifying surroundings make it very inspiring.'

-the introduction of the book "British fashion designers' by Hywel Davies

I've always been fascinated by British fashion designers as they have a very distinctive signature that makes them different and refreshing from Europe and New York fashion.

A littiel movie inspiration : An education

An Education is set in England in 1961 and features looks that pull from both the 1950's and the 1960's. The movie is about a girl in transition, so it makes sense that the clothes in the film are evolving, too. Shift dresses, pillbox hats, and liquid eyeliner become staples as the story progresses. Luella's Spring 2010 collection offers a modern take on the early 1960's look.'

classic, quirky and fun !
Clearly portrays the distinctive characteristics of Luella.

Is this a real home?art? or photography?
Despite the fact the room is full of excessive stuffs, I really like the overall mood.
Complicated yet very calm. Noisy yet very peaceful.
Warm colour palette.
Vintage mood.

Everything seems wrong.
But yet, everything seems so perfectly right.

How Do You Take Your Trench?

Looking at how other designers interpreted differently about the trench coat....
Although you will find that styles change through the seasons, incorporating more modern twists, the basic silhouette of the trench coat is unmistakably iconic.
Speaking the same language..
